Nest Update, Week of May 8

Screen Shot 2016-05-08 at 8.49.02 AMTomorrow (Monday, May 9) beginning after 9:30 a.m., the two eaglets will get banded and receive a medical exam, with the banding streamed live on the Eagle Cam Ustream channel .

The  eaglets are now approximately six weeks old.  The young birds stay in the nest for approximately 10 to 12 weeks, until they are large enough and strong enough to leave (fledge). This is typically toward late June.

Later this week: More from the banding.

One Response to Nest Update, Week of May 8

Watching your streaming video has been one of the highlights of my Spring entertainment. You are doing a great job and I am really looking forward to tomorrow’s banding.
I have been highly amused and amazed by what I call their “poop squirts” (you call them poo streams). I laughed out loud at the first I saw about 6 weeks ago. The not-so-little ones have certainly changed from little white fluff balls, through a rather ugly “teen” stage to now where they look like real birds. Their wingspan is certainly impressive.
    All good wishes,
Carolyn Stefani, Edgewater (80 years old)
